Now, with the help of the HOLY SPIRIT; we have discussed on the power of knowing, being enlightened https://www.lightwithjesus.com/post/to-be-enlightened; but that’s not enough, that’s only the beginning of our walk with Christ and journey of transformation.
Beyond knowing; we need to submit to being transformed by the word of God; leading and guidance of the Holy SPIRIT.
Paul even said in the Bible, Knowledge can lead to pride, puff you up, so then Knowing is good, but is it knowing that transforms?
1 Corinthians 8:1 New King James Version
Now concerning things offered to idols: We know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love edifies.
Let’s take an example; KNOWING GOD doesn’t equate to you being saved:
We see in Romans 1; that the whole world is already filled with the knowledge of God, they know of God but is the whole word saved then? The answer is No; why then? Because they haven’t believed…
Romans 1:19, 21 TPT
“In reality, the truth of God is known instinctively, for God has embedded this knowledge inside every human heart. Throughout human history the fingerprints of God were upon them, yet they refused to honor him as God or even be thankful for his kindness. Instead, they entertained corrupt and foolish thoughts about what God was like. This left them with nothing but misguided hearts, steeped in moral darkness.”
let me ask this Question here:
What truth about God are we suppressing?
You can know and accept HE is love but what about HE is HOLY, HE resist the proud?
Let’s go on; it even says they know of God’s law, they know of God's judgment yet they still decide to disobey:
“Although they are fully aware of God’s laws and proper order, and knowing that those who do all of these things deserve to die, yet they still go headlong into darkness, encouraging others to do the same and applauding them when they do!”
Romans 1:32 TPT
So we see; Knowing isn’t enough. After Knowing, what then?
Transformation by Doing
I read somewhere that the Bible isn’t just for information but for transformation.
God has called us into good works, to DO; the purpose, blessings of knowing and power of knowing is in Doing.
John13:17 NKJV
“If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.
We are transformed to be more like JESUS, be like him, act like him; we are not just hearers of the word but most importantly doers.
James 1:22-25 NKJV
22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; 24 for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. 25 But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.
James 2:14 New Living Translation
14 What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone?
1 John 3 New Living Translation
7 Dear children, don’t let anyone deceive you about this: When people do what is right, it shows that they are righteous, even as Christ is righteous.19 Our actions will show that we belong to the truth, so we will be confident when we stand before God.
That’s why I say, first we are TO BE, then; there is an after and we are TO DO by the grace of GOD.
So when we hear the world of God; we are enlightened, we know and more importantly we OBEY. Even Abraham was justified by faith only; not just by believing in God; he backed it up with action/obedience and that’s what justified him.
James 2:18-21 NKJV
“But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble! But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead? Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar?”
James 2:24, 26 NKJV
“You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only. For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.”
James 2:24, 26 NKJV
FAITH WITH OUR WORKS
I like in the Bible verse above; it says even demons know that there is God, but then what’s different about me than knowing, it’s works; doing, obedience.
So then; as we study, read the Bible, and are enlightened; let’s ask for grace from God to most importantly live as we are learning and knowing by Doing and Obeying; God judges our works and takes pleasure in that, and we are truly transformed by doing.
Prayer
Lord help me to be continually transformed, by the renewing of my mind; beyond knowing Lord, help me do all you want and have commanded me to do, help me continually be more like you JESUS.
