Matthew 16:26 NKJV
“For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?”
So the above scripture, I basically know offhand, I have probable quoted this so many times, I can’t even count anymore; and I was taking a walk and the SPIRIT OF THE LIVING GOD just ministered this scripture to me and I was just quoting it over and over again, and then I asked myself a question, so what does it mean to loose one soul?
How can I gain the whole world and you still tell me I loose my soul; gain and loosing in the same sentence sounds like an oxymoron to me.
Do we actually know what it means to loose once soul; which brings me to the main point of this blog.
Dear Heavenly Father, we thank you for your leading guidance; thank YOU for using me as a vessel to write what YOU have to say to us, and Lord I pray that as YOU write LORD; as YOU reveal, as YOU teach; I pray that these word pierce our heart LORD, discern our action and thoughts and that they are SPIRIT and life to us. As YOU teach us what it means to loose one’s soul, LORD I pray may we not loose our soul. Thank YOU sweet precious HOLY SPIRIT, we love YOU and eternity more🙏
Let’s delve right into it!
We do have a soul and our soul is of great value. Your soul is your life—all that makes you the person you are. It’s the seat of your memory, feelings, imagination, convictions, desires, and affections. Your soul is of greater value than the whole the world.
Your soul is breathed into you by God. It is the source of all your achievement, and it is the cause of all your sin. Your soul lasts forever. Your soul will experience everlasting joy or misery. Therefore, your soul is of great value.
And you know what; your soul can be lost.
What does it mean to loose one soul?
Jesus asked a question in verse 26 of Mattew 16, HE asked what profit will it be to me, to you if we gain the whole world, but, we loose our soul?
But Before verse 26, he made a call in verse 24; A call to follow HIM; and rejecting that call, to follow JESUS is loosing once’s soul;

“Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.”

To gain the whole world is to receive all the world has to offer—money, fame, pleasure, power, prestige, etc. To lose one’s soul is to die without a right relationship with Christ and spend an eternity in the lake of fire.
There is nothing worth more than one’s own eternal soul. Rejecting Christ might mean temporary, earthly gains, but it comes at the worst possible price.
To lose your soul is the greatest loss of all because it is a loss that can never be recovered.

““Everything is meaningless,” says the Teacher, “completely meaningless!””
Ecclesiastes 1:13-14, 16-18 NLT
He even also had so much wisdom and so much knowledge, he devoted himself to understanding and wisdom, He was wiser than anybody on earth, he had lived a life that had observed everything on earth and you know the same conclusion he came with still at the end?- meaningless—like chasing the wind.
It shows that no created good can satisfy the soul, and that happiness is to be found in GOD alone; and this doctrine must, under the blessed PERSON OF THE SPIRIT OF THE LIVING teaching, lead the heart to CHRIST JESUS.
So how can I save my soul then?
Before verse 26 of Mattew 16; JESUS made a call in verse 24; A call to follow HIM; and answering that call, to follow JESUS is the essence of not loosing once’s soul and saving it; and to follow JESUS; you need to be born again. That’s how you can save and not loose your soul.

“Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.”

It’s the Paradox of the cross; finding life by surrendering and loosing it to JESUS CHRIST.
As the Bible says in Romans 10; “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved”.
JESUS is the way, the truth and is true life itself; and the only way, the only only way to save your soul.
Furthermore; even as a believer, If the purpose behind your earthly, material gain is not to make CHRIST know and glorified, it is pointless, meaningless as we saw above.
Your soul can not just be lost alone, but it can also be starved, strangled, or surrendered. That’s why after salvation; seeking the prosperity of your soul is very very important.

“Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.”
Remember; the soul includes the mind, will, emotions, and heart. The mind includes your perceptions, cognitions, imaginations, reasonings, analytical approach, and at the core of soul is your heart. All these components need to be aligned so that your soul can prosper. Your soul has to prosper in order for the rest of your life to also prosper.
And GOD wants our soul to prosper, HE wants us to be of good health, sound mind, clean heart.
To have a prosperous soul, you should:
Be careful on what you are feeding your mind. Proverbs 4:23 (EXB) says, “Be careful what you think (above all that, you guard, protect your heart), because your thoughts run your life (life flows from it)”
Feed your mind with the things of God;
practice love, walk in humility,
do not listen or walk, stand, or sit with the wicked.
JESUS calls HIMSELF “the bread of life” (John 6:35, 48) and the source of living water (John 4:13–14; 7:37-39), HE is the key to having a prosperous soul; HE satisfies.

“And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.”
John 4:13-14 NKJV
“Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.””
You read, think, meditate, and memorise the Word of GOD.
Hebrews 4:12 tells us that “the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
And finally brethren, be led of the SPIRIT OF THE LIVING GOD.
Romans 8:13 tells us “For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.”
To be led by the SPIRIT OF THE LIVING GOD is to submit to HIS leading and guidance; to avoid the works of the flesh and walk in the way of righteousness and holiness. HE will teach us and instruct us on how to walk in righteousness and holiness.
Romans 8:6 tells us that to be that The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.” So we should submit to the leading of the PERSON OF THE SPIRIT OF THE LIVING GOD.
The temptation of the world will always come, even after salvation, riches, fame of this world will tempt you.
You remember the devil had tempted JESUS also with ‘gaining the whole world’ at the expense of loosing his soul; but JESUS response was to rebuke him; and hallelujah JESUS CHRIST found life and victory in obedience .
Luke 4:5-8 NKJV
“Then the devil, taking Him up on a high mountain, showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said to Him, “All this authority I will give You, and their glory; for this has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I wish. Therefore, if You will worship before me, all will be Yours.” And Jesus answered and said to him, “Get behind Me, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’ ””
So we also like JESUS did, resist the devil, and he will flee!
Gaining the whole world without JESUS is empty, really empty, pointless, so much vain and it destroys kills. Giving our lives to Jesus all the way, saves us; saves our soul from eternal damnation; it gives joy, meaning, eternal purpose to our soul; it flourishes our mind, soul, spirit, body, heart. It genuinely makes us very very joyful in this world and beyond.
All your earthly gains will pass away, they will be willed away to next of kin’s; you can’t take your properties, money, fame with you; it doesn’t stand in eternity.
You know what does? Your soul.
There is eternal life, and the only way to Get that life and have it more abundantly is in JESUS CHRIST.
John 3:16 NKJV
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
John 17:3 NKJV
“And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.”
Yes; have a soul that is of greater value than the whole world. One of two things will happen to your soul for sure: Your soul will be saved or your soul will be lost and damned forever. And JESUS CHRIST, GOD your creator and father doesn’t want that to happen to me, to you, to any of us.
JESUS loves you to much for that to happen to you; that’s why he came to this world to die for you, for me, for our sins; You gain life eternal when you have JESUS;
HE is the only Person able to save your soul; the only way is JESUS CHRIST.
HE is able to do it because HE died for our sins. No person who comes to him will ever be turned away. HE said so HIMSELF in John 6:37 “All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out.” And trust HIM, when he means no one, HE means no one; no matter your sins; he died for it all; for it all HE died for.
So like the call JESUS CHRIST called in Mattew 16; if you haven’t answered that call, it’s still not too late to do so; HE loves you big big; with an everlasting love and trust me HE is still waiting for you.
Jesus says to you today, “The one who saves his life will lose it,” but then in love he appeals to you: “The one who loses his life for my sake will keep it forever!”
You either meet JESUS here on earth as your LORD and personal saviour, or you meet HIM on judgement day as a Judge.

Thank you JESUS for your word today, thank you for enlightening me on the true meaning of life, that YOU are the SON of the LIVING GOD, JESUS CHRIST that was sent by GOD to this earth to die for my sins. I acknowledge that I am a sinner, I acknowledge that I cannot save myself, I acknowledge and believe that YOU died on the cross of Calvary for all my sins; I acknowledge and believe that YOU bare the punishment of all my sins; I accept YOU as my only LORD and PERSONAL SAVIOUR, and all my sins have been forgiven. I say Thank YOU JESUS and I receive the new life YOU have given me, YOUR LIFE, MY LORD JESUS.
And so I shout THANK YOU JESUS FOR SAVING ME, THANK YOU JESUS COS ALL MY SINS HAVE BEEN FORGIVEN, THANKING YOU JESUS COS I AM SAVED, AND VICTORIOUS IN YOU. HALLELUJAH, AMEN.

Oh LORD, we thank you for teaching us and reminding us what it means to loose once soul, even as we have been taught LORD, I pray that this words which we now know won’t be use against us on the day of judgement; I pray LORD, that YOU give us the grace to seek and prioritise YOU daily, that we won’t chase worldly, earthly things that we know will fade away, pushing YOU to the back of our lives; no LORD; that we won’t loose our soul LORD JESUS, that we won’t loose our soul. To continually abide in you LORD JESUS, for in YOU and YOU only we have life abundantly. We say thank YOU and love YOU LORD JESUS, BLESSED SWEET PERSON OF THE SPIRIT OF THE LIVING GOD, ALMIGHTY GOD; BLESSED Trinity; for eternity and more LORD🙏
